Moving Around in Bronto

How can you move around in Bronto?  It’s easier than you think with an activity called “Switch a Seat.”dsc_0440jpg-5-documents

Every month during a Lunch and Learn session, the company engages in drawing the next participants of “Switch a Seat.”  Switch a Seat is an activity that pairs 2 Brontos (working in different departments) to switch their seats for a week.  The goal?  A fun way to improve cross departmental communication and understanding. By switching seats, the participants learn more about the daily activities of those Brontos in a different department.  In turn, they gain a better knowledge and more importantly an understanding of how that team works.

The pair is determined by a spin of the big Bronto numbered wheel.  Each Bronto is given a number, and with two spins of the Bronto wheel, the two participants are determined.  This month, the chosen participants were met with a thunderous applause. VP of Client Services, Carolyn Sparano and VP of Finance, Will Sendall were chosen to switch.

For each respective team (Client Services, Finance) this meant one week away from “the boss,” with a new boss in their place.  For Carolyn it meant a move to the quieter finance department.  For Will, a window seat overlooking the American Tobacco Campus was a move up from his seat in Finance.switch_seat-2

“It was a nice change of pace. In Finance, the only sound you hear is the hummm of the copier and fax. The primary distraction is the constant traffic of Brontos passing by. In Client Services, it’s the constant buzzzz of client interactions & experiences with the Bronto application,” said Carolyn.  “There was also lots of estrogen.” commented on the change on an all female Finance team (with the exception of Will).

“I enjoyed the upgraded ‘oceanfront’ view with Carolyn’s desk in Client Services.  I was able to balance my work days by gazing down at the peaceful ATC river, which drowned out the noise of the calls in Client Services,” said Will.

All in all, both VPs learned more about the other teams, how they work, their daily tasks, and their preferred music over  airtunes.  Stay tuned for more updates on this fun program at Bronto.
