Tri Brontos – It’s Official!

by Caroline Smith on July 15, 2009

kristen_adam_daveHere on Brontonation.com, we first posted about Bronto’s commitment to healthy challenges with participation in a sprint triathlon.  You read about the training and dedication involved to complete a sprint triathlon and why Bronto would challenge employees to take on this goal.  So, with that training and encouragement, Brontonation.com is proud to announce that eight Brontos finished the Triangle Triathlon on Sunday, July 12th and we have the pictures and to prove it.

The Triangle Triathlon was moved this year from Lake Crabtree to Harris Lake County Park and was received with lots of local news coverage and some great pictures (Hint: image # 18 is none other than Bronto Doug Hairfield).  With the cooling tower of Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant in the distance “powering” the group forward, the team completed the following events:

  • 750 meter open water swim
  • 17.5 mile bike ride on rolling hills
  • 5K flat grassy rundoug_chaz-1

The group was comprised of:

  • Kristen Gregory, Email Marketing Strategist
  • John Gunther, Technical Writer/eLearning Specialist
  • Adam Covati, Product Manager
  • Dave Albert, Software Engineer
  • Matt Williamson, VP of Sales
  • Chaz Felix, COO
  • Caroline Smith, Marketing Operations Associate
  • Doug Hairfield, IT Manager

Of this group, only two Brontos had competed in sprint triathlons prior to the Triangle Triathlon. The extra encouragement, training, and camaraderie offered through Bronto has helped these athletes achieve goals more easily than if they attempted to do tackle the event on their own.  Having your own triathlon coach, a group encouraging you while you train, and a company that supports you all the way is several of many reasons why Bronto is a great place to work.
