Why Work at Bronto?: Great Area, Great Company

by Stacy Lyons on June 22, 2009

Welcome to BrontoLast week I started a series of blog posts talking about how great it is to live in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and listed all of the recent awards and accolades won by the region.  To continue the series I thought I would delve a little more deeply into the Great Company aspect and give you some additional details of Life @Bronto.

If you browse around on this site a little, you will see several posts about the fun activities and events going on at the Bronto offices.  We have it all – a hip office space and great perks.  No wonder we were selected as one of the areas Best Places to Work in 2005.

Our office is located on the historic American Tobacco Campus in Downtown Durham in a converted tobacco warehouse.  You won’t find a cube city here – the office is spacious and open.  We recently went through an office expansion during the construction we added many green features, including using recycled blue jeans as insulation.  We are also in the process of getting the office LEED certified.  We rock it out during the day taking turns controlling several shared speaker systems.  The office is completely wireless and each employee has a laptop (you get your choice between PC or Mac) and there are several informal sitting areas for those days you want to kick back a little more while dreaming up the next great blog post.

We work hard, but we have a lot fun too.  The office sports a brand new Foosball Table (there was quite the discussion over which version, German or French, to buy.  We went with the German style Tornado) and a Wii game system.  Many business decisions have rested on the outcome of a game of Foosball.

The perks don’t end with the cool office space either.  We have a little something for everyone including:

  • A fridge full of sodas, juices and Gatorades as well as a snack cupboard teaming with chips and cookies.  We also have fresh fruit delivered weekly for the more health conscious.
  • A subsidized memebership to the Durham YMCA.  There is a YMCA onsite here at the American Tobacco Campus, just a short walk from the office. Work out at least 8 times a month and Bronto will reimburse the monthly fee.
  • A chance to root, root, root for the hometeam…the Durham Bulls.  Bronto purchases season tickets and each Bronto has an opportunity to share this summer past-time with friends and family.
  • All the Bronto Gear you could ever wish for including; the coolest company t-shirt, hats, coffee mugs and your own personal Bronto.  You can sport your Bronto shirt and hat to work any day of the week as it is causal Friday here…everyday.

We know how lucky we are to be working here and we pay-it-forward as much as possible.  Bronto also encourages each employees to spend time volunteering in the community.   Each Bronto is allowed 2 half-days per year to work at a Bronto sponsored event with a local organization.

Working at Bronto is truly rewarding, the culture is one-of-a-kind.  Bronto offers a full, competitive benefit package as well as all the perks mentioned above.  If you want to join this phenomenal team check the careers section of our website – we are always looking for the next, great Bronto!

Don’t forget the Lunch & Learn free lunches every Thursday as well! The food’s always great and it’s a good time learning what’s new at the company and in the industry.
