Every Thursday at Noon the whistle blows at the American Tobacco Campus signaling the ever important mid-day shift change of bygone days. These days, the blasting of the horn indicates a weekly Bronto tradition, Lunch and Learn. For one hour a week, the entire Bronto team comes together to eat and learn. The learning portion consists of a presentation by a Bronto(s) regarding topics ranging from company metrics, company events, department updates and email marketing best practices.
Each lunch and learn session is catered by a department within Bronto. This tricky task becomes a fine balance of assessing the appetite of the Bronto team, scheduling catering with a local restaurant, and delivering or orchestrating the delivery of the food to Bronto HQ. The selection of food has become a bit of competition within Bronto. If a department arranges pizza for the 2nd time in a month, a thunderous “boooo” will be heard from the team. So, the more creative and higher quality food choices will always get brownie points around these parts.
That’s why this Thursday, April 2nd we’re featuring a very special lunch option. Feeding 50 people piping hot food on location is no easy task, but what if the food was to be cooked right here, at Bronto HQ? Our Client Services team has recruited OnlyBurger, a gourmet burger restaurant on wheels, to feed the masses. With a “Have Burgers, Will Travel” mantra, OnlyBurger is a joint venture between Sam Poley and Tom Ferguson, who hail from Durham and have extensive restaurant and catering experience.
More than just a good burger, supporting businesses like OnlyBurger allows Bronto to support local commerce while enjoying the best food Durham has to offer. But overall, Lunch and Learn has become a great opportunity to learn while growing camaraderie within the Bronto team.
